In just five hours at Denmark’s largest engineering conference, E-14, we helped Prolon create a control panel for intelligent building services using TouchGFX.
Pivotal to Prolon was the simplicity in design and user-friendliness, which are cornerstones of the company’s identity and existing products. The video below shows the entire process from idea to prototype.
Prolon is a Danish development company that delivers building automation equipment. They have a strong focus on creating energy efficient products based on the latest technologies, hereby protecting the environment and reducing costs.
Mjølner helped turn idea into prototype by creating a touch-based graphical panel with minimal power consumption.
The purpose of the workshop was to give Prolon a better understanding of what they can achieve with TouchGFX and how a project can unfold. All without spending too much precious time.
“The TouchGFX workshop is a simple tool for product managers, developers and others to estimate, plan, and develop embedded GUI ideas. All we need is a basic idea, one dedicated person, and a few design guidelines.“
In the ideation and conceptualization phases, we considered various use scenarios. Prolon’s idea was a user-friendly product that had the look and feel of a smartphone.
It was important to them to create a device that enables users to switch easily between different functionalities. With this in mind, we focused on designing a homogenous interface that would create cohesion between different types of services offered in one single device.
What we came up with was an easily manageable control panel based on mental models that predict user behavior.
TouchGFX technology made it possible for us to create a prototype on limited hardware with a simple and great-looking graphic design that fit well with the company’s existing products and reflected the company’s graphical identity.
