Driven by a desire to improve the integration of non-Danish speaking citizens, NEMConnect has invented a product that provides higher quality and more freedom when it comes to interpreting services. In close cooperation with NEMConnect, Mjølner Informatics has developed the concept, design, and technology development of the solution.

NEMConnect’s high expectations to user-friendliness and their vision of making Denmark a better place for non-Danish speaking citizens are the perfect match with Mjølner’s ambition to provide innovative, user-friendly, and technically high-quality digital products that provide business value.

The concept was to be developed from scratch, so the collaboration started with a requirement workshop, where we illuminated the vision of the product on the long run and, at the same time, defined the most necessary features to be able to bring the first version to the market. We highlighted the main user groups: municipalities and non-Danish speaking citizens, and we narrowed down the business requirements and the technical architecture for the solution.

CHECK ON BUDGETS AT THE MUNICIPALITY AND FREEDOM FOR THE CITIZENS

In total, five software developers, an architect, a project manager, and a User Experience consultant from Mjølner have created the platform solution for NEMConnect: an app and a system that makes it easy for non-Danish speaking citizens to get an interpreter. The app automatically connects a qualified specialist to the conversation between a non-Danish speaking citizen and Danish-speaking users.

The interpreter is not only selected according to the desired language, but also on the necessary vocabulary within the particular subject matter. The solution helps municipalities to keep track of their interpreting budgets, streamline workflows for municipal employees, and give non-Danish speaking citizens more freedom in terms of being able to get the right interpreter with the necessary competencies and quality to cover their needs.

MJØLNER IS A CREDIBLE, COMPETENT, AND PROACTIVE PARTNER

The solution consists of a ‘Native App’ for both iOS and Android and an associated administrative web interface. The dynamic web interface reduces the municipalities’ administrative work. Mjølner was able to solve this complex task, because we have all the necessary skills in-house. The interaction and knowledge sharing between our software developers, architect, project manager, and User Experience consultant makes way for a hugely effective project process. It resulted in value and synergy for NEMConnect in the form of a user-friendly and efficient solution of a technically complex setup.
